I encourage the F-Troop to stretch their budget and issue such converted weapons to their field agents – a full-auto MP-5 costs in the neighborhood of Ø3000 apiece, and a brand-new M4-pattern rifle can cost Ø1500-2000 per unit. Contrast that with the prices that Airsoft charges – I haven’t seen anything from them priced over Ø100. WOW! Agent Crenshaw could equip the entire BATFE at prices like those. The LP’s last presidential candidate (Bob Barr) spent a great deal of campaign time on apologizing for past anti-libertarian policy stands during his time in the Congress. Johnson doesn’t have that sort of baggage.

I will testify it was the Bush XLI actions against gun owners – the 1990 executive order banning the import of “assault weapons,” his promise to sign the Brady Bill if it had been included in a larger “crime package,” etc. that caused me to not only vote for Perot in 1992, but pushed me to switch to the LP in 1994.
But it’s not just the specific issues – it’s also the attitude of the GOP machine types that anyone who leans libertarian needs to simply shut up and do as they’re told “or else the Democrats will _________________.” Anyone who balks at that gets labeled as “losertarian” or libtard” – take a look at Free Republic for examples of this.

“The BTP is NOT affiliated with the “TEA party” groups that formed in 2009.”
I don’t think that the BTP will escape this unless one of two things happens:
- The BTP changes its name (i.e. “Freedom Party”).
- The “TEA Party” movement falls apart – which could happen if Romney or Gingrich is elected as President.
Anyway, I’m one of those with dual memberships (LP and BTP), so you don’t have to tell me about unwanted crossposting.
