Basically, all you have to do to be nominated as an LPNM delegate to the National Convention is to be a Caucus member. It also helps A LOT if you’re physically present at the Special Convention where the nominations will take place. See here for details – http://tinyurl.com/lpnm2012sc.

The reason that we’re having this “Special Convention” in lieu of doing these nominations at the normal convention [ see here for more about that one – http://tinyurl.com/lpnm2012 ] is that the LNC is requiring us to send them (specifically, LNC Secretary Alicia Mattson) a list of our delegates at least 30 days prior to the start of the National Convention (2 May). Doing it this way was easier than rescheduling the entire State Convention.

@agnophilo – Obama’s copy-and-paste job from RomneyCare (some call it the “Affordable Care Act”) still has to pass muster at the Supreme Court.

About that “Emancipation Proclamation” – funny that it didn’t free any slaves at all. People who were enslaved in Lincoln-controlled territory remained slaves, and only those in the “rebellious states” (which Lincoln had no practical control of) were “freed.”

“That on the first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; . . . .”

William Seward, Lincoln’s Secretary of State, said of the “Emancipation Proclamation” :

“We show our sympathy with slavery by emancipating slaves where we cannot reach them and holding them in bondage where we can set them free.”

Here’s a map showing the breakdown – the Proclamation had no effect in the areas in blue because those areas weren’t “in rebellion.”

While I don’t doubt that Obama won’t bomb Iran at the drop of a hat if that’s what it took to get re-elected (I think at this time Syria is a much more likely target, though), I can’t bring myself to buy the line that SEALs would blow off operational security (“OpSec”) just because they’re enthralled with Ed Asner.
